COACHES CORNER

Daviess County Youth Soccer Association is a non-profit organization.  Our success is dependent upon the active involvement of our parents.  All board members and coaches are parent volunteers.   If you are interested in volunteering, contact a board member. We encourage everyone to volunteer as a coach, team parent, or board member.

Many of our head coaches have some kind of playing or coaching experience. But previous playing or coaching experience is not a requirement if you are interested in coaching.  There are training sessions available through DCYSA and KYSA and many sources of information about coaching soccer on the internet.  To get started, sign up as an assistant coach and attend one of our coaching development clinics.  Contact the DCYSA Coaching Director Kenny Brandle for more information.

Parents welcome!!!

The clinics are a combination of practice field work and classroom theory. Tentatively, DCYSA plans to hold the field work at Horse Fork Creek Field 2 and the class room work at the Kenergy Operations Center conference room.

The Board would like to encourage parents and coaches to participate in these clinics. These clinics provide coaching basics for skills development, practices and games and provide instruction on age appropriate activities. More importantly, the clinics focus on the “individual” soccer skills that our league should be developing at our younger age groups (U4 through U10). Promotion of individual soccer skills will make the game more enjoyable to our players and training formats will assist coaches with practices that will be fun and educational.

If you have any questions or comments please contact Duncan Campbell via email, decampbelldbs@bellsouth.net or cell phone, 925-5704.
