CODE OF CONDUCT

 Players play soccer to have fun, to learn and develop a passion for the game as well as to improve their skills. Players have a responsibility to their team, coaches and soccer organization. They are representatives of the club as well as the team, coaches, parents and the community. Players must maintain a high level of sportsmanship and fair play. Players must have respect for their coaches, opponents and the authority of the referee and his/her assistants.

  • Players will play within the laws of the game and spirit of the game.
  • Players are expected to be on time and prepared for matches and training sessions.
  • Players will display self-control in all situations and will not use foul or abusive language at any time before, during or after a match or training session.
  • Players shall train and play to the best of their ability, have a positive attitude and encourage others to do the same.
  • Players will show respect towards the referee and his/her assistants as well as toward the opponents. They will not harass abuse or berate a referee or opponent for any reason.

Parents/Spectators must set the example for the children by exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship. Parents/Spectators participate in a match by watching, cheering and supporting the efforts of all participants of the match. Soccer must be fun. The game is for the children, their participation and enjoyment of the game is the most important element. Parents have responsibilities to the coaches, team and soccer organization they are part of. Parents/Spectators must have respect for their coaches, all children on the team and the authority of the referee and his/her assistants.

  • Parents/Spectators are expected to have respect for the authority of the referee and his/her assistants. They will not harass, abuse or berate the referee during or after the match. They shall not enter the field of play without the referee’s permission.
  • Parents/Spectators are expected to have respect for the coach and his/her assistants; they should never criticize a coach in a public manner. Do not coach from the sideline; let the coach do his/her job no matter how much you may disagree. If there is a problem, talk to the coaching director or a director of the organization.
  • Parents/Spectators are expected to have respect for all players. Cheer in a positive manner. Encourage your team and don’t berate the other team. Cheer in a way to reward good play for both teams and promote fair play.
  • Parents/Spectators are not to use foul or abusive language towards any one for any reason.
  • Parents/Spectators have a responsibility to learn the laws of the game, and spirit of the game.
  • Parents/Spectators are encouraged to get involved with the organization and promote the game in a positive way.
  • Parents/Spectators must demonstrate the utmost in sportsmanship and integrity; they are the role models for their children.

LIABILITY RELEASE & MEDICAL WAIVER

I recognize and understand that soccer is a sport involving risks not encountered in everyday play. With this understanding, in consideration of Daviess County Youth Soccer Association, permitting my child to participate in the youth soccer program, I covenant and agree to indemnify and hold harmless and do release, requite and forever discharge Daviess County Youth Soccer Association, its Board of Directors, coaches, referees and other such volunteers, including transporting my child to and from activities, for any and all damages, claims, and/or liabilities arising out of any and all injury to or caused by my child. With this knowledge and understanding of the foregoing, this is to certify that my child has permission to play soccer in the league. Further, I hereby authorize any and all emergency medical treatment deemed necessary by any physician, nurse, or paramedic. A copy of this authorization shall be as effective as the original.

 

Kentucky Revised Statute 518.090 - Assault of sports official.

 

(1) A person is guilty of assault of a sports official when he intentionally causes physical injury to a sports official:

(a) Who was performing sports official duties at the time the physical injury was perpetrated; or

(b) If the physical injury occurs while the sports official is arriving at or departing from the athletic facility at which the athletic event occurred.

(2) For the purposes of this section, "sports official" means an individual who serves as a referee, umpire, linesman, or in a similar capacity that may be known by another title, and who is duly registered as or is a member of a national, state, regional, or local organization engaged, in part, in providing education and training to sports officials.

(3) A person who is guilty of assault of a sports official shall, for a first offense, be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor, unless the defendant assembles with five (5) or more persons for the purpose of assaulting a sports official, in which case it is a Class D felony.

(4) A person who is guilty of assault of a sport official shall, for a second or subsequent offense, be guilty of a Class D felony.
